Valentine's Day Celebration

Our Valentine's Day celebration has been scheduled for Thursday, February 14th from 9:45 to 10:45.  All parents (who have been cleared through the Be A Mentor process) are welcome to be a part of our festivities.

Social Studies

In Social Studies we will be learning about America through our national symbols and landmarks.  We will sing patriotic songs and take a close look at two of our nation's greatest leaders - George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Reading and writing

Students continue to do an excellent job on their reading response logs.  They are writing detailed responses that have been carefully thought out.

During Readers Workshop, partners have been working together to sound out unfamiliar words in their non-fiction books.  They are also taking a close look at the photos, learning specific vocabulary words and recalling important facts about what they've read.

Learning centers

Thank you for your responsiveness and support!

Thank you to the wonderful parent volunteers who will be guiding and encouraging students in their work.  Your continued support reinforces our shared expectations for all students to try their best and enjoy learning every day.

Chinese New Year begins Tuesday, 2/05

People born in the year of the pig are happy, easygoing, honest, trusting, educated, sincere and brave!

Students will have the opportunity to exchange Valentines with their classmates on Thursday, Feb. 14th.  Cards may be purchased or home made, but please be sure to include one for every member of the class.  A class list was included in the LO folder for students to address the cards by name.  Thank you.

E-5 Recommendation

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow on Groundhog Day.  So ... the forecast is for an early spring in 2019.
